The recent shooting in Florida demonstrates that those that wish to divide this country have, if anything, gained in scope and reach. Mr. Douglas warned the country, especially fellow blacks, that the greatest threat to racial equality and harmony, and their own advancement, are those people who would base their entire livelihoods on the maintenance and furtherance of race hatred. Mr. Douglas pleaded with his brethren not to fall victim to those that preached that the black man must always loathe all those that attempt to inspire every man to achieve life worthy goals by means of their own minds, will, spirit and heart. And Mr. Douglas's greatest fear was that blacks would, if they listened to carny-like barkers that claimed blacks had no hope without them, simply be trading one type of slavery for another, which is arguably worse.
The modern carpetbaggers (Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the President, the majority of the media, and the like) have tragically found a multitude of willing ears, and I fear a point of irreversible contempt and resentment is fast approaching. Thus, I ask that all men see these modern day snake oil salesmen for what they are - vessels filled with the despicable evil venom of racism.
